Haddie was a barber in Basset - died young (ruptured appendix?) Died before David was born in 1916.
George Curtiss lived in Basset all his life - died at 90 years old. Worked 20 years for Gallaherd lumber yard. Opened a store but went broke. Painted for the last years of his life.
Bill moved to Hyannis Ne. He was elected county clerk - then bought a store and sold groceries to the ranchers. They paid only once a year when they sold their cattle.
Stella married Freddie Gale. Freddie was foreman of the Chicago Northwestern railroad (maintained the track between Basset and Newport) was fired 2 weeks before he was eligible to retire. Moved to a homestead 35 miles south of Basset. Freddie sold that and bought another place 6 or 7 miles northwest of basset - they lived there until they moved to Wyoming. Opened up some land for settlement - irrigated land in Wyoming. the Gale boys managed to get some of it..
Herbert Dewey (Herbie)
Curtiss (1885-1963) was born in the Sod House south of Basset, and raised
in the Hotel. Worked on the railroad while he was young for $1 a day. He
worked in Hugh Miller's store when he was recruited to Bellvue.
